How to Make a Wooden Christmas Tree Using White Knight Squirts

When space is tight but the Christmas spirit is big, a DIY wooden tree is the perfect project. It’s simple, budget-friendly and surprisingly fun, especially when you add a hit of White Knight Squirts. Here’s how to turn a humble stack of primed timber battens into a festive feature that actually fits your home (and your creativity).

What You’ll Need

  • Primed timber battens (42×12mm or 42×18mm)
  • 1 long battens for the trunk
  • 5 shorter battens for branches
  • Saw
  • Hammer & nails
  • White Knight Squirts — Metallic Green
  • Thumb tacks
  • String or twine
  • Baubles and decorations

Step 1: Cut Your Timber to Size

Start by grabbing your primed timber battens from Bunnings—42×12mm or 42×18mm are ideal.

You’ll build this tree using one trunk piece and five branches, each getting shorter as you move up.

Exact Measurements for a Perfect 1.2m Tree

  • Trunk: 120cm
  • Branches:
    • 80cm
    • 65cm
    • 50cm
    • 35cm
    • 20cm

No need for perfect carpentry here!

Step 2: Hammer Time

Position each branch horizontally, starting with the longest at the bottom and working upwards.

Lay your long trunk piece flat.

Use a hammer and nails to attach each branch securely.

By the time you reach the top, it’ll already be looking pretty tree-mendous!

Step 3: Give It a Festive Coat

Time for the fun part.

Spray your timber tree with White Knight Squirts Metallic Green or a colour of your choice.
Suddenly this DIY is looking far fancier than the dollars you spent on it.

Step 4: Decorate Your Masterpiece

Once dry, grab your thumb tacks and press them into the branches wherever you want things to hang.

Tie small loops of string onto your decorations such as baubles, bells, stars, whatever you’ve got in the craft drawer.

Hang everything up, step back and enjoy the moment.
It’s festive, clever, and completely #CanDo.

The Christmas Win

A space-saving, personality-packed tree that costs next to nothing and looks brilliant.
Whether you’re in a small home or just love a crafty challenge, this project is great for you and the kids this Christmas.
