Ultra Pave

Ultrapave_10ltr_a4_cc
White Knight Ultra Pave water-based paving paint is an advanced acrylic formulation designed for use on exterior and interior concrete surfaces. The smooth satin finish is the perfect solution for areas that have already been painted in both water-based and oil based finishes and provides greater slip resistance than traditional gloss paints.

Preparation

Preparation

Surface preparation is vital to achieving the best performance from a concrete paving paint. Concrete Surfaces Unpainted: New concrete must cure before it is painted. This time allows the chemicals and moisture, which prevent adhesion, to rise to the surface of the concrete so they can be removed. Using a water-based paving paint on new concrete will require a curing time of at least 4 weeks before painting. The surface to be painted must be free from dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants. Degrease the surface to remove grease and other stains using a conventional concrete degreaser. Use a stiff bristled broom to remove sand, loose aggregate and other contaminants and then sweep it clean. Wash thoroughly with clean water, then allow to dry.

Preparation

Preparation

SMOOTH or STEEL FLOATED CONCRETE (new or old, unpainted): This surface must be etched before painting to ensure maximum adhesion. The etching process will slightly roughen the surface by removing the sheen. The roughened surface should look like sand paper and must be present prior to painting. Etching the surface with White Knight Concrete Etcher is a safer, environmentally friendly alternative to conventional acid etching. Follow the instructions on White Knight Paints Concrete Etcher pack. After etching, it is essential to remove all loose residues before painting. This can be done by thorough scrubbing with a stiff bristle broom or by water blasting. Any scrubbing must be followed by thorough rinsing with a strong water jet from a garden hose, before the surface dries. Ensure the etching has slightly roughened the surface and created porosity. It should feel like rough sandpaper”if not, repeat the etching process. When dry test for loose residue with adhesive tape. If cement or loose material is picked up on the tape, repeat the cleaning process. If loose residues persist, call White Knight Customer Service on 131 686 for further Technical advice.
Painted Concrete Surfaces: Check for lifting of old paint prior to re-painting. If it™s not sound, the total removal of the old paint is required. Scrape off all loose and flaking paint. Remove all contaminants such as dirt, grease, oil or dust. Sand glossy or smooth surfaces to improve adhesion. Clean thoroughly with a strong detergent and rinse thoroughly with water, then allow to dry. Grease or oil spots may need a degreasing agent to remove them prior to painting. Before repainting, create a test area to ensure compatibility with the old coating. After 24 hours of drying, check for lifting of old paint or poor adhesion. If problems are observed total removal of the old paint is required. To improve Slip resistance If additional slip resistance is required add White Knight Pave and Deck Grip to the paint before application. Follow the instructions on the pack.

Application Details

Application Details

Stir thoroughly with a broad, flat stirrer in a circular lifting motion for at least 5 minutes before use. Thin the first coat on smooth or unpainted concrete with 10-15% water to aid penetration and adhesion. Apply 2 coats to the correctly prepared surface for maximum durability. Do not thin the second coat. Use brush, roller or spray gun for application. Do not use when the air or surface temperature is below 10°C or above 30°C or when the humidity is very high.

Coverage

Coverage

Up to 10 metres squares per litre depending on the porosity of the surface nature of the surface.
