Cold Gal is suitable for application to iron and steel surfaces.

Preparation

Preparation

The correct surface preparation is critical. Both the paint and the metal must be in contact if successful reaction is to take place. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned, dry and free from grease, oil, dirt, salt rust scale and other contaminants. Remove rust back to clean metal with a wire brush, scraper or mechanical sander. Do NOT use products containing acid such as Rust Converter or Etch Primer with White Knight Cold Gal.

BEFORE SPRAYING Cover all necessary areas to protect from overspray. It is essential to shake the can vigorously until ball rattles and continue shaking for at least 2 minutes to ensure even distribution of zinc throughout the product. Shake can regularly during use. Do not use when the air or surface temperature is below 15°C or above 30°C or in excessive humidity Spray outside or in a or water-based paint.

Brush On Methods: Brush, Roller, Spray White Knight Cold Gal may be applied by brush or roller. Stir thoroughly with a broad, flat stirrer in a circular lifting motion for at least 5 minutes before use. Stir at regular intervals during application. Thin sparingly only if necessary with White Knight Rust Guard Solvent or turps. Apply 2 coats. Do not use when the air or surface temperature is below 10°C or above 30°C or in high humidity. Aerosol

Aerosol: Spray outside or in a well ventilated area away from fire and heaters. Hold the can upright approximately 15-20 cm from the surface. Press button firmly. Spray with a smooth sweeping motion. Apply a pre-wetting mist coat followed by a full even coat. Overlap each spray pass. Repeat if necessary. To prevent paint sagging, avoid spraying too close to the surface or spraying too heavy a coat. After Spraying To clean the nozzle after use and prevent blocking turn the can upside down and press button until only gas escapes. Overcoating White Knight Cold Gal does not require a topcoat. When two coats are applied, White Knight Cold Gal may be left uncoated. Where a topcoat is desired, prime the surface with one coat of White Knight True Bite then topcoat with a suitable exterior oil-based

Brush On: Up to 7 square metres per litre depending on the nature of the surface. Aerosol: Up to 1 to 1.5 square metres per unit depending on the nature of the surface and the amount of overspray.

Clean Up

Clean Up

Overspray can be removed while still wet with mineral turps. Clean equipment and brushes with mineral turps immediately after use.
