Take a chair!

Check out second hand furniture stores, road-side throw-outs, attics and garages!  Somewhere there will be a sad looking metal chair – close your eyes to everything but the shape – that will become eye-poppingly funky with just a quick squirt of colour.

A single, rehabilitated chair – providing it has good ‘bones’ – can make an arresting statement in any room, especially if the background is right.

The chair pictured was found on a grass verge during a council pick-up, looking sad and neglected.  It was sanded lightly and washed to remove all old flaky paint and grime.

It was then given a single coat of gloss white Rust Guard by White Knight Paints.  Rust Guard is a renovator’s dream – a single coat of this heavy duty paint will seal, prime and top coat practically any metal surface in one go, indoors or out.

After just one hour the surface is touch dry and the chair will enjoy a tough, high gloss finish that will withstand the harsh elements of the Australian climate for many years to come.

Rust Guard is available in a brush on form (which is touch dry in two to four hours) and an aerosol can (which is touch dry in just an hour).  The latter is ideal for protecting those small, intricate areas such as wrought iron and lattice work.

Rust Guard’s coverage is excellent, with one litre of brush-on Rust Guard covering 10 - 14 square metres (depending on surface porosity and film thickness) and 1 to 1.5 metres per 310gm spray can.

Rust Guard, by White Knight Paints, is available nationally from hardware stores and paint specialists in 250ml, 500ml, 1 litre and 4 litre cans.
